About

Can I eat cake? Was one of the first questions my 6 yr-old asked me after his Type 1 Diabetes diagnosis.

My response ”Does it have poison in it?”  Triggered the first wholesome laughter after 4 days in the hospital. “If there’s no poison, you can have anything you want!!”

This I believe is one of the greatest gifts you can give a T1 diabetic, there is no limit to what they can eat or do.  Nothing needs to hold them back.

I want this blog to help others with Type one and their caregivers find some positivity and encouragement. By sharing my challenges, success,  adventures and the occasional bit of helpful information I strive to enrich the lives of those who take the time to read. As our future unfolds I will continue to bring positivity and encouragement to the masses.

I don’t have a tragic back story like many parents of T1D tiny humans, I took Pirate to the emergency room because he wet the bed. The most tragic part of our story, it was a week after his 6th birthday and a day after we set up his birthday present a ninja course, or slack line course in our backyard for him. He hated knowing it was at home and he was stuck in a room. Hospitals are not designed for active 6-year-old boys, that’s for sure.
